How to build alliances for your coliving community.

People who join your coliving community do so for a variety of reasons. One of the most important ones is that interesting things happen in your space. That means surrounding yourself with interesting and curious people with whom to build new opportunities and possibilities so that your coliving community can also enjoy them and feel inspired by serendipity.

In particular, today we are here to tell you about one of our most interesting partnerships. It is Creative Habitat.

We tell you what it consists of and how we have been forging this network. Maybe, our experience can help you to build your own alliances.

What is Creative Habitat?

Creative Habitat is a movement that fosters collaboration between companies and innovation communities in order to connect ideas, projects, and people. It connects five spaces, five places, and five communities from Galicia and Portugal: Porto, Viana do Castelo, Senderiz, Pontevedra and Santiago.

These five communities and companies are:

CONEXIÓN is a space for inspiration and collaborative work at the Finsa company headquarters in Santiago de Compostela where we share meeting points with innovation communities such as Creative Habitat.

ARROELO SPACE In just eight years, nearly sixty people shared ideas, laughter, work, emotions, and knowledge in a creative space in the center of Pontevedra. Thanks to the support of the Arroelo family, they work in the present moment with the conviction and pride of being the protagonists of creating, in freedom, the world they want.

SENDE is a village of 20 inhabitants in the Sierra del Xurés, between Spain and Portugal where the community comes to work in nature, birds, stone houses, and inspiring people.

DINAMO10 is a creative center in Viana do Castelo where work and art have merged for ten years to inspire all those people who share this space on a daily basis.

WOW by Finsa (Work on Wood) is a coworking space developed by the industrial company Finsa to connect with innovation and design.

How do we build alliances? Da Foresta event.

Since we created Creative Habitat, our way of building this network has been to create regular meetings where we naturally have fun and share new ideas and visions. It’s as simple as that. We tell you about our last meeting during this summer.

In this case, it was WOW who organized for the network the event called “Da Foresta”.  The meeting took place at “A Panda de Adá”, a forest in O Freixo, As Pontes, in the middle of an abandoned village where now there is forest conservation and wood production.

“Da Foresta” it’s a project meant to create outdoor furniture that would last for at least 50 years and is all made out of recycled wood. The artist of this project was Alexander, a young architect from the U.K. that came here to Galicia to develop his idea and craft.

We went there to understand better Alexander’s vision and ideas and how this could be a revolutionary project for the recycled wood and furniture industry.  Also, we were welcomed to contribute with our own ideas or just to give a hand of help.

In order to get to see Alexander’s craft we had to take 20 minutes to walk through the preserved forest, where we got the chance to understand more why this forest is now protected and how they are trying to save some endangered species of trees by cultivating them.

After the walk was done and we saw the potential of Alexander’s project, we came back to the base of Finsa, where all of us had a nice barbeque and guitar night in the mystical forest.

This project and meeting was all about how creative minds that gather together not only brings to life great ideas but are these events are great opportunities for colivers to connect with other environments.

What is the magic behind The Creative Habitat Community

“Da Foresta” project was a facilitator between Creative’s Habitat community and the potential of future projetcs.
